Candid shots in the house

Just bored out of my mind. Happened to be testing the Sigma EF-500 DG Super flash I got off the eBay. Still trying figure out the optimum setting on the A2 for in-door shots while using the Sigma flash. It's a bit difficult because the Sigma flash underexposes the shot in some situations. I seem to get better results (correct exposures) if I bounce the flash of the ceiling. If I point the flash directly at the subject, it underexposes the subject. Maybe it's because I'm using the the Omni diffuser from Sto-Fen. More flash pictures will follow. Below are few good ones so far (minor post-processing in PS CS, mostly crop and USM).

1st and 3rd shots were taken with the flash bounced of the ceiling. The other 2 were taken while the flash is pointed directly at the subject. Notice the differnce?

Did I do something wrong, again?

Crystal!

Going through a boat-load full of unorganized digital pictures. I Came across this interesting shot of Crystal. I was playing with the A2 while she was reading a book on her desk. With the camera focused on her face, I then called her name. Without knowing that the camera was fixed on her, she turned toward me. Her facial expression showed a little surprise and yet a very natural one. No over-dramatic expressions. I think the shallow depth of field, produced a blurry (bokeh?) background, added to the effect of the shot.

Officially Walking by Himself!

On 5/18/05, Joshua was able to walk by himself while push a Ride-On toy by Little Tikes. Unfortunate, with most baby's "first" moments, I did not have the camera around my neck. Just wanted to see if Joshua can do it again, the shot below was taken a day later. Sure enough, he was walking and pushing the toy stroller as a support.

Relaxation at Holmdel Park

Took Crystal and Joshua to near by Holmdel Park for some much needed R&R (plus the wife had a "girl's night out"). The park itself was very pleasant and clean with lots of trees open spaces and a ok sized playground. It even had a lake and a farm (only horses and sheeps though). Judging from the picture, I'd say they had a pretty good time.

Best buddies!

Mother's Day Weekend

What a complete waste of a special day

Crystal was schedule to sing (with other kids) in a special Mother's Day performance at our church, TAFPC. 5 minutes before church starts, she regurgitates her morning breakfast right on the center aisle of the sanctuary! She was like the cupid statue in a garden, but instead of water running out of the mouth, stomach content was being projected out of her mouth. Needless to say, it puts a damper on things. After a hastily cleanup job on the aisle carpet (with the help of other members of the church of course), we rushed Crystal home immediately. She slept most of the afternoon trying to recoup her energy.

Instead of the dinner at a Korean restaurant, we had take out sushi. I was ok I guess, but would much rather have hot spicy Korean food to end the day though. I guess that will be another day.

That was it. Nothing else was accomplished on Mother's Day. Poor Crystal though. we still haven't figure out why she upchucked that morning.

Crystal's big smile

Joshua by the window

I'm on my way!

Finally! I have my own space in the cyberspace. I'll will finally be able to speak my mind and no one will ever wrong me... well, maybe I should slow down before I get into any trouble and get fired from my job :) Anyways, I'll be using this space mainly to document my life, people and things around me, i.e., my kids, Crystal and Joshua, through photography. From time to time, if I ever have time to travel, or see some interesting sights, I'll post the pictures here. Hope you enjoy them!
